Softball– At Boulder City, Dylan Scott and Karlee Koopman each tossed a shutout as the Eagles swept Moapa Valley, 10-0 and 6-0.

Scott spun a five-inning one-hitter in the opener, striking out five.

Taylor McKeever, Melissa Stewart and Megan Snyder each had two hits.

In the nightcap, Koopman fired a five-hitter with six strikeouts. Paxton Fleming went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Eagles.

The Lady Pirates were only able to muster six hits in the doubleheader.

Golf- Moapa Valley’s Pirate golf team took 2nd place at the Coyote Springs Invitational last week. High wind gusts contributed to higher scores but Moapa Valley’s team did well in the first ever Southern 3A match on The Chase at Coyote Springs, a Jack Nicklaus design north of Moapa on State Route 168. The Pirates shot a 453, placing second to Faith Lutheran. The Pirates were led by Jon Oglesby’s 87 and Bracken Brown’s 88.

Boy’s Track- Moapa Valley competed last weekend at the SUU Invitational on the Southern Utah University campus in Cedar City, Utah. The Pirates did well, having several notable finishes. Josh Thompson took 11th in the 3200 meter run, Cole Witter took 5th in the 800 meter run, and Parker Chappell took 5th in the 1600 meter run. Thompson also took 2nd in another finals heat of the 1600 meter run.

Girl’s Track The Lady Pirates also competed at the SUU Invitational in Cedar City, Utah. Moapa Valley did well in several track events, placing several competitors. Tessa Newman took 1st in her 800 meter run final, Jordan Chappell placed 3rd in the 2000 Meter Steeplechase, and Chappell also took a 1st in the 1600 meter run. Teisha Howard also won her division of the Girl’s Discus throw.

Richard Lewis Invitational- This Saturday, Moapa Valley High School hosts the Richard Lewis Invitational at Pirate Stadium. The track meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and last until 3:00 pm.

Swimming Moapa Valley’s Boys and Girls Swim Team faced off against Boulder City last Saturday. Unfortunately for the Pirates, both teams lost, with the Pirates losing 194-94 and the Lady Pirates losing 173-38.
