For the kids of Moapa Valley the words “summer fun” go hand in hand with Parks and Recreation. The Local Clark County Parks and Recreation offers the youth and adults of the valley a wide variety of fun activities to enjoy during the summer months. There is Swim Team, Summer Recreation Programs at four sites, Open Day Swim, Swimming Lessons, Water Aerobics, Synchronized Swimming, the Leaders of the Future Program as well as evening sports activities.

Chandler Stump enjoys a carefree jump off the diving board after swim team pratice on Thursday, June 18.
Summer programs kicked off on Monday, June 15. Kids attended their first day of Summer Recreation at one of four location, the Moapa, Bunkerville, Logandale and Overton sites each offer a variety of fun activities at a low cost to parents.

This program invites children ages 6-12 to enjoy a structured day with their peers playing games, swimming, creating arts and crafts, and taking fields trips to name a few things.

Summer Rec kids in Overton have the opportunity to enjoy the Overton Pool each Wednesday and Thursday and the Logandale Rec kids get to head to the Logandale Pool each Wednesday to enjoy open swim time. A few great additions to the Summer Rec this year are the free guitar and dance lessons.

Swim team practice, synchronized swimming and swim lessons also kicked off this past week keeping lifeguards busy at work. Parks and Rec will also be offering an evening recreation at the Logandale and/or Overton Parks for teens on Wednesday Nights throughout the summer.

In addition to all of the fun for the kids, the adult softball leagues are now forming. Men’s and Women’s team are welcome to sign up through June 30 for the Tuesday and Thursday night leagues. If you don’t have a team you can still sign up. New this year is the free agent program. For $25 you can sign up as a free agent and Parks and Rec will form new teams.
