January 27 to make quilts for earthquake survivors in Haiti. The effort all came in a round-about way when two women were talking about the terrible earthquake and what could be done. Later what was a humanitarian project turned the LDS Logandale 4th ward Relief Society organization to invite all churches along with the senior center to help in the quilting.
Quilts were made in various sizes ranging from twin to the most needed full size. All quilters, suppliers, cutters, and binders were sent to their own stations. Women were in and out throughout the day. Lunch was also provided to the women who volunteered their time. As the day wore on into the afternoon, more tables and quilting racks were set up to accommodate the growing number of volunteers. Local resident Beverly Qualheim has set up web page dedicated in aiding those in Haiti. The website includes a list of ways to help and what is needed. Right now the doctors and organized help is very specific in their needs. All links are verified. The website can be viewed atwww.bevscountrycottage.com |
