Nicole Alice John-Bonta, age 34, entered into peace on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 7:15 a.m. at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nevada. She was born on September 23, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Karen Benn (Moapa) and Finley John Jr. (Kaibab, AZ). She is the grand daughter of Irene Benn (Moapa) and the late Harry Benn (Moapa), grand daughter of the late Nevada Smokey (Shivwits, UT), and late Finley John Sr. (Kaibab, AZ) and Great Uncle Roger Benn (Moapa).
Nicole loved her social life, watching movies, music, swimming, jewelry and make-up. Her hobbies were collecting pictures and as a youth she participated in the sign language group. She grew up in her traditional ways which included learning Indian songs and making Indian bread. Nicole loved her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, stepchildren, aunties, uncles and her many cousins and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Bonta; daughter, Felicia Hartt; son, Xavier John; sisters, Valerie John, Nadine John, Cynthia John; brother, Clay Bushhead.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 2, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Moapa Tribal Building. S. Paiute Traditional Sing will begin shortly after the services.Interment will be Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 5:00 a.m. at the Moapa Indian Cemetery.
