Ruby Peterson Jensen

Ruby Peterson Jensen, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on June 15, 2010 in Overton, Nevada surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 25, 1917 in Sterling, Utah to John and Katie Funk Peterson. She married Donald Keith Jensen on September 27, 1933 in Gunnison, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They had two children. She took great pride in her family, and enjoyed spending time with them.

Ruby worked in the sewing industry in Manti, Utah for many years. When her family was raised and her husband passed away, she moved to Henderson, Nevada where she worked for the school lunch system and in a restaurant. She was an accomplished cook, seamstress and quilter.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in a variety of church callings including Relief Socitey, Sunday School, Young Women and Primary organizations. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her kindness and love serve as an example to those who knew her. She always put her family first. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.

Ruby is survived by her children, Donald Jim (Ada Marie) Jensen of Overton, Nevada and Donna (Steven) Heath of Washington, Utah; a brother, Othneal Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah and sister, Frances Anderson of Ivins, Utah; eight grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, twenty six great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great children. She lived to see her family grow to six generations within her lifetime. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West Cedar City, Utah. A viewing was held one hour prior to funeral services, also at Southern Utah Mortuary. Internment was in the Sterling, Utah Cemetery, all under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
