Sharron Angle, Other Candidates To Attend Local Event

A meet and greet open house event will be held on Thursday, September 30 at the Old Logandale School. Featured at the event will be several conservative candidates appearing on the ballot in the upcoming general election including Republican Senate candidate, Sharron Angle.

The event is being coordinated by Sugar’s Restaurant owner and Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board member Judy Metz. Metz said that the idea began with her desire to know more about Angle.

“I have been very unhappy with what (Senator) Harry Reid has done….or not done as the case may be,” Metz said. “I know that I don’t want to vote for Harry but I also have no idea who Sharron Angle is. I talked to a lot of people in the community who felt the same way. So I decided to set something up where she could be here and allow people to meet her.”

Metz contacted state Republican leaders and scheduled the event. In addition to Angle, a whole slate of conservative candidates were also scheduled for the event. Also in attendance at tomorrow’s event will be Congressional candidate Joe Heck, State Senate candidate Joe Hardy and State Assembly candidate Cresent Hardy.

“I am a registered Republican but I have a history of voting for the candidate and not strictly for the party,” Metz said. “In this case we wanted candidates that are Constitutional conservatives and that have strong family values. These are the people that the Republican leadership offered up.”

All in the community are invited to the open house. Metz hopes that the event will be a benefit to voters to help in their decision. “The doors will be open to anyone who is interest in seeing what these candidates have to offer,” she said. “I also hope that parents will bring their teen-age children. It is an important time for them to be aware of the election process and what is going on in their country.”

Each candidate will be given 10-15 minutes to speak to those in attendance. After that the evening will be an informal opportunity to mingle with the candidates.

Metz stated that Angle, who has a very tight campaign schedule, will be there at the beginning of the event but may have to leave early in the evening to meet other scheduling obligations.
