Shop Local On Black Friday

The Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce is urging local residents to “buy local” this holiday season including on “Black Friday,” the day after tomorrow; one of the busiest shopping day of the year.

Black Friday is traditionally the start of the Christmas shopping season and retailers frequently offer special deals on the day to get shoppers into their stores.

Many Moapa Valley retailers can often match or even beat the deals offered by stores and shops in Las Vegas, Mesquite and St. George, the largest retail centers outside the immediate area, according to Chamber President Craig Haderlie. In addition, buying locally also means no drive time and no crowds.

Radio Shack at Home Hardware True Value in Overton sells electronics, computer-related items and televisions that are price competitive with larger stores throughout Southern Nevada. True Value also has tools and other items that can make good stocking stuffers.

Likewise, Ace Hardware offers some excellent deals on a variety of goods including large and small appliances, rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammunition, fishing equipment, camping gear and other outdoor products.

So before you take your Christmas list to town, check it twice and give the local merchants a try. You may just save some time as well as money.
