The Christmas holiday season has returned to Moapa Valley again. And with it comes the Old Logandale Historical and Cultural Society (OLSHACS) annual Festival of Trees. This year’s festival will be held on this Friday and Saturday, December 2-3.
Local businesses and residents have donated some beautiful trees nad other items that will be available for sale, auction and raffle. All proceeds will benefit OLSHACS in continuing to operate the Old Logandale School facility. Items can still be donated for the festival up until Friday at noon.
Entertainment, drawing exclusively from local talent, will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The headliner performance of the evening will be a special musical production from the Moapa Valley Children’s Choir at 7:00 pm on Friday. The Zephyr Singers will perform on Saturday morning at 10:00. Other performers include a youth string quartet, cowboy poet Ken Marshall, the Nelson Family Band, the Zephyr Consort of Recorders, Mack Lyon Middle School Orchestra, the Goldenettes, and a while lineup of vocal soloists.
The festival will feature holiday food demonstrations in the school’s kitchen area by Overton Lin’s marketplace staff.
Also featured in its second year will be the Christmas Bazaar with a number of new vendors selling their holiday wares.
The Nativity Room, which has become a festival favorite, will host over 100 Nativity sets displayed by local collectors from different countries and cultures all over the world, for festival-goers to enjoy.
There is still time to donate decorations, wreaths and more for the silent auction. Contact Robin Maughan at 702-278-0704 for more information.
The Festival of Trees will be open from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday; and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
