Oh really? You also may be not a winner. And if you’re one of the unfortunate ones who thinks this “winner” statement means you have any real shot at the prize, I’m sad for you. So you say somebody’s going to win whatever it is? Possibly. But it won’t be you and it won’t be me.
Here’s another question: “A survey says that over 90% of test subjects saw up to a 30lb loss in belly fat.”
Your thinking that’s not a question. Well here it is: To you, what does this say? To me, it SAYS nothing. It only asks questions. Who conducted the survey? How were the “subjects” selected? Who wrote the questions? How were they worded? How many questions? They tested how many “subjects”? Were the participants compensated? How many over 90% was it? What does “up to” mean? Who else had their foot on the scale before this ”test” was started? Was the scale calibrated for this test? How about the tape measure that sized up all this belly fat? Who was in charge of it? Was this person paid based on results? Is 4oz. included in the statement “up to a 30 lb loss”? Because, you know, in real life everything from 29.9 lbs on down to 0lbs is up to, but does not include, 30 lbs.
Having said this; no, ladies and gentlemen, you are not already a winner. Did you even enter this contest? There are people working long hard hours thinking of ways to use words in ad campaigns to convince you that with no investment on your part, you will wake up one day, skinny, rich, smart, and invested for your eventual retirement. It’s never been true.
When the Lord told Adam, “By the sweat of thy brow shalt thou eat”, He meant it. This applies to us as well. Even when the Israelites were getting manna from heaven in the wilderness, when they stopped earning it, it stopped falling.
