Water Color Artist Featured At Brown Bag Lecture

Elizabeth Pickett

Elizabeth Pickett is the featured speaker on Tuesday, March 6 at noon, when the Virgin Valley Artists Association presents its monthly brown bag lecture at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery at 15 West Mesquite Blvd.

Pickett retired from the Nevada gaming industry in 2001 and began pursuing her lifelong interest in watercolor painting. She had joined the Nevada Watercolor Society in 1995 and served on its board in various capacities, but became even more active when retirement allowed her additional time.

Pickett represented Nevada at the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) as a delegate in 2005-2006. She has been a member and officer of numerous regional watercolor societies and has gained recognition as a fine watercolorist and plein air painter, showing solo and in group exhibitions. She now lives in Cedar City, Utah.

Pickett understands the artists’ need for guidance in putting their work forward in major competitions. She will present a video that explains the process, as she gives a glimpse into entering a juried regional art exhibition.

The public is cordially invited to hear this free lecture by Ms. Pickett. Her audience will be surrounded by a new gallery exhibition, “Artists and Poets,” which shows March 5-31. The display will feature art work paired with original poetry submitted to the Gallery and chosen by VVAA members for entry in the March competition.
