Bowler PTO To Kick Off Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser

The Grant Bowler Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will be kicking off a winter fundraiser on Friday during the school’s Morning Muster ceremony before the start of the school day. At that time, kids and parents will get a sneak peak at the fundraiser event with music, dances, cheers and a sneak preview of the prizes available for participants.

This year’s winter fundraiser will be a Walk-a-thon. The event will be held on Wednesday, February 6 during the special subjects period for each class. On that day, instead of going to P.E., Art, Music or Library, Bowler students will take to the field and walk in the fundraiser.

“We welcome the community involvement,” said PTO Presiden Teresa Holzer. “Parents and members of the community are welcome to come to the school that day and cheer the students on.”

Holzer said that this year’s fundraiser has become more critical than ever. “The School District has cut over $40,000 out of the school’s annual budget,” Holzer said. “The PTO raises money that is directly rechanneled back into the school.”

Incentives and prizes will be offered to kids that reach various monetary milestones. Kids who raise $10 will receive a Bowler dog tag; $20 receives a Bowler Water Bottle; $25 earns a Bowler T-shirt; $100 earns a embroidered Bowler sweatshirt.

The top three earners per grade will win some wonderful prizes including a family package tour from Awesome Adventures, movie tickets/snacks, bowling packages, gift cards for drinks at Maverik; McDonald’s happy meals; ice cream gift certificates and more. These prizes will be privately sponsored by many local businesses.

In addition, the highest earning class per grade will get a special party from the PTO.

“We are very excited about this fundraiser,” Holzer said. “All the proceeds will go directly back to the school and used in whatever areas are most needed.”
