Prime-cut meats, poultry and rib connoisseurs from around the world are heating up for the 2013 Smokin’ in Mesquite BBQ, which is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
The action begins on Friday, Aug. 30 and continues through the weekend at the CasaBlanca Resort. Chefs will compete in various categories, including chicken, ribs, pork and brisket, for a shot at the $40,000 purse.
Team registration and judging classes will take place on Friday. The cooking competition begins on Saturday, complete with the opening of the beer garden, live DJ, BBQ food and college football action. The festivities conclude on Sunday with People’s Choice Awards at 3 p.m. and BBQ awards ceremony at 6 p.m. in the CasaBlanca Showroom. For more information, visit www.visitmesquite.com.
