A semi-truck hauling fill dirt overturned on Thursday morning when it was making a turn off of Moapa Valley Boulevard onto Waterline Road north of Logandale. The incident occurred at around 9:45 a.m, according to Nevada Highway Patrol officials.
Officials said that the driver, a man out of Utah, was heading north on State Highway 169 from Logandale. He was reportedly heading to the Legacy Rock facility at the end of Waterline Road.
The driver attempted to make a left turn onto Waterline at a rate of speed that was apparently too fast for the road conditions, said NHP spokesman Trooper Loy Hixson.
“He wasn’t going super fast,” Hixson said. “But it was too fast in this case. Everything kind of worked against him. His load shifted, the trailer caught the edge of the roadway and everything followed from there.”
The truck came to rest on the west side of Waterline Road. There was no need to close State Highway 169 for the incident, Hixson said.
There were no injuries in the accident. The driver was able to get out of the truck without any problems, Hixson said.
NHP officers stayed at the scene until around 1:45 p.m. during the clean up of the site.
