Moapa Valley Progress
Members of the Moapa Valley Revitalization Committee (MVRC) have a goal. They want all of the different community organizations in Moapa Valley to work together for one common goal; and they want to help facilitate that cooperation.
To try and increase communication between the different organizations the MVRC will begin holding a Community Coalition meeting four times a year. And the first meeting will take place tonight, Wednesday January 29, at 6:30 pm in the North Shore Inn Conference Room in Overton.
MVRC members are inviting all local residents who are interested in seeing Moapa Valley grow and prosper to attend. The organizations that plan on having representatives in attendance include the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, and Mesquite Regional Business Inc.
“We want to avoid duplicate projects and efforts,” said MVRC member MaryKaye Washburn. “ I have attended meetings from each organization and we seem to have a common goal. But sometimes there isn’t enough coordination among them. So instead of each one reinventing the wheel let’s join forces.”
The Revitalization Committee would like to see more communication between the organizations so they can help one another out with volunteer hours, resources, or connections. Washburn said that no particular events are being planned at the meeting tonight except to discuss how the organizations can work together and plan on holding more quarterly Community Coalition meetings.
