Are we safe to walk the streets of Overton?
I am a 76 year old lady who rides these streets in a medical mobile scooter. On Friday, April 4th I was on my way from having lunch at the senior center. I was on the southwest corner of Thomas and Moapa Valley Blvd. The front wheel of the scooter was on the first stripe of the crosswalk. I was checking to make sure if it was safe to cross.
All of a sudden a school bus came around the corner behind me. This bus never stopped at the stop sign and it turned on to the Blvd. and went into the second lane. I was still in the same position in the crosswalk.
When the rear of the bus was passing me it was so close I could have kicked it while I was seated. I went into a temporary state of schock.
The reason I’m in this scooter is I have three things wrong with my heart and was told by the heart doctor not to put any stress (no walking any distance), to rest and take life easy. Am I safe here in Overton?
