No one asked me but… Why is it that the President never seems to know anything is happening until he reads about it in the press? It seems that latest uprising in Iraq has come as a complete surprise to the President.
Let me say if this is true and he was not aware of the buildup of Sunni militants, the President needs to fire his State Department, CIA, and military leaders. This is an administration where everyone is afraid to tell the emperor he has no clothes. If one suggest that the President’s policies are stupid, they are immediately attacked for being a racist. In the political climate of today, opposition to President Obama in any field brings down charges that you oppose the man because of hise ethnic origin. I am sorry, stupid is stupid; no matter what color your skin is.
The fact that George Bush was stupid enough to get us involved in Iraq in the first place is no excuse for Barack Obama getting us re-involved. It is time to get out of the Middle East and come home and take care of America. Let the owner of Saudi Arabia use some of the billions of dollars he has been bleeding from Americans for oil to protect himself and others in the middle east if he so desires. Let the Middle East Muslims kill each other off for the next twenty years or so.
There is no American interest to be protected anywhere in the Middle East. There are more deposits of fossil fuels available in America than anywhere else in the world. We merely need to get the eco-nuts out of the way and begin to harvest the crop. It has been estimated that there is enough fossil fuel within the United States to sustain us for over 300 years. If during that time we can’t develop an affordable renewable energy source, then shame on us.
There are those who say we must keep a presence in the Middle East to curb the growth of terrorism. They say if we don’t control the militant Muslims, they will strike against America on the homeland. If that were to happen, a drone strike on the country and the militants can be accomplished and we can go on with life without the sacrifice of American soldiers.
Interestingly enough, the 9/11 attack was carried out by 19 men from Saudi Arabia so President Bush ordered an attack on Iraq. Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi who we thought was hiding out in Afghanistan. We found him in Pakistan living a block from the national police academy. While in Afghanistan, we ran into the Taliban who opposed the corrupt Afghan government.
Now I am not proposing the Taliban is a wonderful group of patriots, they are thugs, but so is the established Afghan government.
We took sides in a civil war and forgot why we were in Afghanistan to begin with. Stupid is stupid no matter what the color of your skin.
No one asked me but… I am the holder of season tickets for the musical show package at the Smith Center. The final show this year was THE BOOK OF MORMON.
Let me establish early that I am not a Mormon and I don’t play one on T.V. However, I was greatly offended by the presentation. I went expecting a humorous depiction of the life of Mormon missionaries and instead found an attack on God and Christianity in general and the Mormon faith specifically.
I have been told the LDS church has, to a degree, embraced the production. This would be supported by the fact that the church purchased three full-page ads in the program. If indeed there is any church support for this blasphemous production, I would assume that the church officials have not seen the play. I again would assume their thinking may be that bad publicity is better than no publicity, but in this case, I don’t believe that this is true.
The humor in the program never gets more sophisticated than the humor in the boy’s high school restroom. We have talked about a federal administration that people are afraid to tell that it has no clothes. The Smith Center is in the same situation in Las Vegas. It is a beautiful building, in which millions of dollars have been spent, and apparently, people are afraid to criticize the edifice. Five million dollars of it coming from the Clark County School District. Yes, the same district that has no funds to build schools. The same district the local community had to engage in a nearly ten-year battle to get them to live up to their commitment for a gym on the MVHS campus.
Let me be the first to tell you that the acoustics in the building are horrendous. I must admit that we are in the nosebleed section, but for the cost of the building, one would think that they would be able to make it possible for all to hear.
Unfortunately, for the first time in the ten performances, what was being said was fairly clear and I really didn’t want to hear what I was hearing. Amidst the blasphemy of God, there were sexual acts that, had they been depicted on a stage when I was a youngster, the police would have shut down the show and the actors arrested for ludeness.
I must admit that I am not a bona fide theater critic. But for me, there was no redeeming grace in this play. It was written by the same people who write the South Park cartoon on T.V. It has the same unsophisticated humor.
One of my younger and more liberal theater partners said, “They crossed the line.” But they didn’t cross the line; they wiped the line out.
I believe God has a sense of humor, but I really don’t believe He would be laughing at this production. The American nation may have finally surpassed Sodom and Gomorrah as to its level of debauchery. Stupid is stupid no matter what your sense of humor.
