The Mesquite Rotary Club will be holding a Mudd Volleyball Tournament fundraiser on Friday, July 18 at the Eureka Casino. Team sign-ins will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and actual play will begin at around 5:00 p.m. in a specially prepared mud pit just to the east of the casino, behind the hotel rooms.
“We are working to raise funds for a frisbee disc golf park in the community,” said Rotarian Linda Gault who is helping to coordinate the event. “The idea of a mud volleyball tournament came up as a fun fundraiser.”
The Rotarians are asking teams of 6-8 participants to pay a $210 team fee ($35 or less per player), Gault said. All of these entry fees will go toward the planned park.
Spectators are free at the event, but are encouraged to support the cause through purchasing concessions that will be available. There will also be a live DJ and prizes awarded.
“We really want this to be a fun activity and not get too serious, but there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded,” Gault said.
Registration for the event will go on up until the evening of the event. But Gault said that she would appreciate having as much advance notice of participation as possible for planning purposes. Gault can be contacted by email at lindakgault@gmail.com.
