The annual community Trunk or Treat event is expected to be bigger than ever this year. It is scheduled to take place on Halloween night from 7-9 p.m. at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Children are invited to come in costume and enjoy a family friendly atmosphere of traditional candy gathering.
This year’s event is being included in the big Logandale Fall Festival, a two day event filled with family-friendly activities. The Festival will be running from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. It will feature a Bluegrass Music Festival, a Nevada State Championship BBQ Cookoff, a Craft Show and a carnival midway. Presale tickets for the Festival will be $5 or $8 at the gate.
For the Trunk or Treat event, children 12 and under will receive free admission with the donation of two non-perishable food items to benefit the Cappalappa Family Resource Center.
Event organizer Rik Eide said that youth are welcome to drop off donations the morning of the event and receive an all-day pass to the festivities. They can then return at 7 p.m. in costume to participate in the Trunk or Treat.
“Come early and get your all day pass for your kids, enjoy the festival, come see it and come back for Halloween,” Eide said.
The event is still in need of volunteers to donate a “trunk” and distribute candy for the Trunk or Treat fun. Eide said he is anticipating approximately 700 kids to participate and is hoping for 20 trunks. But he has only had around five trunks signed up so far.
“We still need people to volunteer trunks,” he said. “They get into the event for free.”
In addition to getting in free to give out candy at Trunk or Treat, those who volunteer will also receive two additional passes good for the next day, Eide said.
Eide is asking for volunteers to set up their trunks at 5 p.m. on Friday and to drive through the gate by the fine arts building.
“We’re going to make it as family friendly as we can,” Eide said of the event. “We’ve priced it as best we can, it’s for the kids! The goal is to have fun.”
