No One Asked Me But… (October 29, 2014)

By DR. LARRY MOSES

No one asked me but… Does anyone believe the concern over Ebola has anything to do with medical issues? Is the administration really concerned that an epidemic of Biblical portion is about to take place in America?

There have been five confirmed cases of Ebola in the United States. All but one of the victims are medical personnel who treated Ebola patients either in Africa or in Texas. I saw a poster that stated: “More Americans have been married to Kim Kardasian than have died from Ebola.” That should put the issue in some perspective.

The fact that over the last ten years an average of 32,743 Americans have died yearly from the flu with no outcry from the CDC should also help get a handle on the Ebola scare. A CDC report stated that 250,000 Americans die each year from sepsis, a blood infection most often contracted while in an American hospital. This would surely be more of a cause for concern than five cases of Ebola in the United States and 4000 deaths in Africa.

The Ebola crisis has been manufactured to take the voters attention from the multitude of scandals plaguing the Democratic Party at the approach of this year’s elections. If the news is dominated by this supposed crisis there will be little attention paid to the IRS scandal, Benghazi, the fiasco of the

Affordable Health Care Act, out of control immigration, the refusal of the administration to recognize terrorist attacks as such, and the list goes on. With the American people’s attention on Ebola, the fact that the country is 17 trillion dollars in debt is lost. Rahm Emanuel, former Chief of Staff for President Obama once stated; “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

If Ebola is such a deadly disease, one must wonder why the CDC would be sending patients to Nebraska, Georgia, Texas, and Massachusetts, rather than centralizing and quarantining them in one location. Why in the world would we send 3,000 members of our military into the center of the epidemic to deal with an issue for which they have no training? The President has refused to put ground troops into the fight against ISIS. He will, however, send them to Africa to risk dying fighting a contagious disease. There seems to be little concern that they may bring it home with them.

No one asked me but… Speaking of plagues, early voting is a plague on American elections for a number of reasons. First, the chance for voter fraud is greatly increased the longer ballots are sitting around. Second, reporting on early voting could affect the result of the election.

I understand that the votes will not be counted until Election Day; however, as early as October 22, it was reported that in the State of Nevada Republicans had cast 26,668 ballots, Democrats had cast 21,397, and Independents cast 9,325. How these people voted cannot be determined but it is fair to assume for the most part they voted along party lines. Knowing the results of this may well stimulate members of each party who would not have voted to cast a ballot. If the numbers are too lopsided, it could discourage voters from showing up on Election Day.

A third issue is that the election may well be over prior to Election Day. Looking at these numbers it becomes obvious the winners of this election will be determined by the vote of the Independents. With this information, the parties can adapt their last two weeks of campaigning to account for this.

No one asked me but…The United States Supreme Court has upheld the Texas law that requires a photo I.D. to vote. This has liberals screaming like scalded dogs.
Someone has to explain to me what the issue is. If you are opposed to a photo I.D. to vote, will you let me cash a check in your business establishment without a photo I.D.?

I can’t even legally drive my car without a photo I.D. in my possession. I would argue that one should not be required to have a license to drive; however that is a discussion for another day. I would much rather a person not have a photo I.D. to drive than not have one to vote.

Those who oppose the photo I.D. claim it is a poll tax and those are illegal. They claim a poor person may not be able to afford a photo I.D. This problem can very easily be solved by giving the welfare recipient a photo I.D. when they sign up for the program.

If the issue is really the photo I.D., I am sure those who are concerned with the possible disenfranchisement of the poor could sponsor an effort to get everyone a photo I.D. free of charge. They have been successful in getting them cell phones and iPads. Massachusetts will even supply them with a car. For the liberals, the tragedy is that this requirement will disenfranchise the dead people who have been voting in Chicago for years.

No one asked me but…There is a Democrat woman roaming the countryside delivering presidential non-campaign-campaign speeches. She is stating “Republicans believe this country should work for those who are powerful, those who can hire armies of lobbyists and lawyers.” She has articulated the Democrat political philosophy as she champions comprehensive immigration reform, support for same sex marriage, the need to raise the minimum wage, abortion rights, and free contraception. She believes the federal government should play a major role in public education.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, is one of the few American politicians who is willing to stand on the beliefs of her party. As long as Hillary Clinton is the “anointed one,” there is little chance that Senator Warren can get the Presidential nomination. It would be refreshing if Ms.

Clinton would openly stand on her belief in abortion on demand, open borders, same sex marriage, and the need for the federal government to take over public education. However, this would not make for a political victory.

Agree or disagree with Senator Warren, she is to be commended for her willingness to openly express her beliefs. It would be great if all politicians would do the same so we could make up our minds if we agreed or disagreed with them.

Thought of the week…One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician’s objective. Election and power are.
