Guy Doty

Raymond Guy Doty, age 61, went home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Overton, Nevada. He was born December 17, 1952 in Logan, Utah to Raymond LeRoy and Mary Louise Adams Doty. On June 10, 1977 he married Julie Gay Robison in the St. George LDS Temple.

Guy was a life long resident of Moapa Valley. He served an LDS Mission in the Delaware Maryland Mission. He attended BYU, UNR and graduated from UNLV with a degree in Elementary Education. Rather than pursuing a job in the education field, he followed his heart and began his career in surveying. He was a successful businessman, operating GDS Surveying and later RGD Surveying. Recently he enjoyed working as a school bus driver.

Family was the most important thing to Guy. Always a dedicated father, grandfather and husband, he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He served his community in many ways, including as a scoutmaster and as a church bishop. He was large in stature, integrity, service and love.

Survivors include his sweetheart, Julie; their six sons and two daughters: Brandon (Mindy) of Henderson, NV; Jordan (Alisha) of Idaho Falls, ID; Sunny (David) Blake of Henderson, NV; Torrey (Tyson) Jones of N. Las Vegas, NV; Chase and Conrad of Logandale, NV; Colton (Kayla) of Overton, NV; Chad of Logandale, NV; fifteen grandchildren; his mother, Louise Doty of St. George, UT; one sister and two brothers: Ruth (Tom) Ellis of Orem, UT; David (Lynda) of San Antonio, TX; Bruce (Karen) of St. George, UT. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond and sister, Ann.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again Friday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
