Julian “Jinx” Crawford Johnson, Jr., age 87, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his home in Logandale, NV. He was born September 21, 1928 in Quantico, VA to Julian Crawford and Nannie Virginia Stone Johnson. On April 3, 1982 he married Audrey Gubler at Nellis AFB, Nevada.

Jinx grew up in a military family and moved many times as a boy. He enlisted in the Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He earned his B.A. from San Jose State College and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He later joined the Air Force and received his pilot’s wings. He flew many combat missions in French Indo China, and the Vietnam Conflict. During his military career he received seventeen medals and campaign ribbons, eleven Air Medals, and three bronze stars. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work for Nevada Power and quickly rose to management and executive positions. In 1995 he and Audrey were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple where they served as ordinance workers. They served an eighteen month mission in Honolulu, HI.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Logandale, NV; five children, and 3 stepchildren, Julian C. Johnson III (Sue) of Albany, OR, Nancy Hilsinger of Napa, CA, Teren Lawler of Port Charlotte, FL, Julie Johnson of Tempe, AZ, Jeffrey Johnson, Gail Adams (Mitch) of Carey, NC, Lindsey (JoRene) Dalley of Logandale, NV and Dianna Christensen (David) of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Frank Joseph Johnson of Modesto, CA; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one sister, Barbara Cosgriff.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the LDS Logandale Chapel. A visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the chapel.
