For several years, Lupita Mora’s popular taco truck was a regular sight in the parking lot of Ace Hardware in Overton. Now fans of Lupita’s cooking can rejoice because she has found a more permanent home for her authentic Mexican food.

Lupita, with the help of her husband, Manuel, has taken over the former Wild Country Cafe space that was adjacent to the Am/Pm gas station in Glendale. She will be opening her new restaurant, Mi Pueblito, in its place this week on Thursday, September 29.

Lupita learned her authentic Mexican-style cooking very young at home with her family. She quickly found that she loved cooking and that people loved her food. So she decided to start a business.
She began by running a taco truck for two years that parked in downtown Overton. It was a walk-up style restaurant however, with no place for people to sit and enjoy their food. So when the opportunity to move to Glendale and open a sit down style eatery arose, she jumped at the chance.

Lupita has put a lot of time and effort into this project. It originated when her husband’s employer, the Adams family of Logandale, encouraged her cooking and put her in touch with several people who could help her get started with a business.
“I am very grateful for the Adams family and their support,” she said. “They helped me find people to help me and convinced me that I could do this.”
Lupita said that she and her husband and the rest of their family have worked very hard to get the restaurant ready to open.

Part of the reason the former occupants closed the doors was a repeated problem with the septic system for the building. All of those problems have now been resolved and the inspections have been passed.
Lupita and her family did the renovations and redecorating in the restaurant themselves. She is pleased with how it turned out. “It’s a nice place,” she said. “The whole family helped. The kids even helped with the cleaning.”
Even though the restaurant is a family affair, Lupita stressed that she would be the one in charge of cooking.
“My husband can’t even boil water!” she joked.

She said the restaurant will carry all of the old favorites such as carne asada, burritos, and enchiladas. They will also have more Americanized food with a whole range of steaks such as T-bones, rib-eyes, and New Yorks for those looking for a nice place to enjoy a more traditional meal.
When asked what the best thing about her restaurant is, Lupita answered, “The food is really good!”

Mi Pueblito will be open weekdays from 7am to 8pm, and from 7am to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
They are still looking for service help. Those interested in working there can contact Lupita by email at mipueblitomex@yahoo.com or call (702) 864-2370.
