LETTER: Stand Up For ‘Culturally Held Beliefs’

The nature of current times now requires us to boldly defend our culturally held beliefs foundational to our community, even when others shout that these principles are outdated, limiting, or no longer relevant.

An example of such a culturally held belief is that our Creator gave us our gender for a wise purpose that we should respect and value. This cultural belief goes to the core of providing safety, personal privacy, and stable families for raising responsible well balance children that will grow and benefit both our community and nation. Our schools should respect these simple time-tested cultural beliefs and not undermine them through a new Gender Diverse Policy.

On Monday, January 29 at 6:00 PM in the Valley High School Theater in Las Vegas, Clark County School District Trustees will hold a special board meeting to hear testimony and vote on a Gender Diverse Policy that will directly affect our community through our schools. It is important that those concerned with this policy voice their concern against a policy that would undermine the cultural beliefs foundational to our community.

It is important to educate oneself on this issue and participate to maintain our culturally held beliefs foundational to our community and nation.

I have found the parental rights group Power2Parent (power2parent.com) an excellent research source to understand this issue and how to affect influence. I’d encourage local parents and residents to please consider participating in, or at least attending, this CCSD meeting to show your concern.

  1. You are welcome to your “culturally held beliefs” so long as they don’t impinge on other’s rights tohold their own “culturally held beliefs”.

Furthermore, you are not welcome to demand that public policy and legislation require others to hold your “culturally held beliefs” as their own.

Others are not welcome to force you to hold their “culturally held beliefs” as your own.

The rest of us asserting our right to hold different “culturally held beliefs ” than you do, does not constitute a war on your “culturally held beliefs”.

Or, more succinctly put, live and let live.
