Missoula Children’s Theatre to Perform “Peter and Wendy”

Get a new look at this classic story “Peter and Wendy” this Saturday, March 10, when the Missoula Children’s Theatre and more than 50 local students present an original musical adaptation of “Peter and Wendy.”

When Captain Hook sends his right-hand man Smee on a quest to capture Peter Pan, it’s seemingly business as usual…at first. Little does Hook realize what fantastic adventures await him and his pirate posse in their search for the elusive Peter Pan. Mistaken identities, ever-morphing clouds, a classy crocodile, some very lost boys, and a fickle shadow all add to the mayhem.

Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Darling embark on a quest of their own and find themselves trekking everywhere from Hawaii to the North Pole in search of their three missing children. With help from the earth-friendly Neverlanders, exotic Neverland creatures, and faithful Tinker Bell, the Darling children are found, disputes are ultimately resolved, and everyone including Captain Hook finds a place where they truly belong.

All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales… a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors to our local schools. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT’s mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.

A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play… except the cast. The team held an open audition last Monday, March 5th and casts local students Kindergarten through 12th grade to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances will be presented this Saturday, March 10th at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the W. Mack Lyon Middle School Theatre. Ticket prices are Adults $8, Senior 60+ and Students $6, and Family $30.

“Peter and Wendy” presented locally by the Moapa Valley Performing Arts Council and Individual Partners for the Arts which include Nevada Arts Council, America First Credit Union, Grant and Laurel Bushman, Moapa Valley Telephone Company, Dr. Lance Robertson, Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Board of County Commissioners.
