Many local businesses took the opportunity to share information about their services and events on Saturday, Feb. 8 at an event held at the main trailhead of the Logandale Trails area. The Las Vegas field office of the Bureau of Land Management hosted a “Community Day” in which visitors to Logandale Trails were able to find out about the Moapa Valley business sector and what it offers.

Local business-owners arrived early and began setting up vendor booths with giveaways, information and more. Participating businesses included Leavitt Group, Clea’s Fabulous Moapa Valley Realty, Xtreme Stitch Embroidery and Print, Lost City Museum, Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, Logandale Trails and the BLM.

There were others who provided handouts and coupons to be distributed at the event including Inside Scoop, Pirates Landing, Sugar’s Home Plate, Perks!, Perfectly Posh, Tupperware, Permanent Learning Solutions, Ooda Body and Dance, Skydive Fyrosity and Sbubbles Spa.

There was also food available including doughnuts, oranges, cheese sticks, cookies and more for the crowds who stopped by. Visitors could also get maps for the trails and snack on a few items. Several even won prizes by answering local landmark trivia questions given by BLM Ranger Mandy Royal.

Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce President Vanette Christensen spoke highly of the event. “This is a great benefit for the community as a whole group be able to come together,” she said. “People working together in one purpose. I love that!”
Besides being able to help with suggestions and information about the local eatery and tourist scene, visitors thinking about becoming Moapa Valley residents could get their questions answered.

Realtor Lori Houston was able to help educate a couple from Idaho about buying property and regulations regarding RV’s stored on property. Kandice Raymond helped provide information about insurance and the rates around the area.
Partners in Conservation Administrator Elise McAllister provided information about the trail system and other recreational activities in the area. She also answered questions about the local businesses not present.

It turned out to be a busy day due to the wonderful weather. Several visitors mentioned they came down from Utah, Idaho and Colorado to get away from the recent blast of snowstorms they have received. These folks were informed about the upcoming Moapa Valley Days, the Clark County Fair and other events coming up in the community.

Linda Hill from Rigby, Idaho, articulated gratitude for this community day. “So helpful! So helpful!” she said.

McAllister voiced her appreciation for the businesses who helped and the support from the valley in providing information to the visitors and tourists of Logandale Trails.

“This was a wonderful turnout and you could see it in the visitors’ eyes,” McAllister said. “This was a success! I got to thank all of the businesses and everyone who helped make those visiting feel at home.”
