A manufactured home in the Stateline Trailer Park in Mesquite erupted into flames just before 8:30 pm on Monday, April 19.

The timing for the fire was difficult for Mesquite Fire and Rescue as multiple calls coming in at the same time stretched the department’s personnel.  This was 1 of no less than 22 calls that Mesquite Fire Rescue had responded to in a 24 hour window beginning at 8am on Monday morning.  Just ten minutes prior to the fire call, two medical calls had occurred drawing personnel to respond to those emergencies. This left only two firefighters to respond to the Stateline Trailer Park fire. In addition to the medical calls , firefighters had responded to an earlier fire call only one and a half hours prior.

Firefighters and equipment responded to the scene within minutes. Mesquite Fire Chief and Deputy Chief arrived on scene shortly after the initial fire engine to assist with fire operations. In addition, units from Clark County Bunkerville Station, Moapa Valley Fire District and Beaver Dam Littlefield Fire District arrived to provide mutual aid support.

Upon first arrival, one manufactured home was found to be heavily involved in flame. The fire was threatening to spread to the nearby Stateline Motel and a second RV trailer.

The Mesquite Police Department quickly shut down traffic to the area and evacuated the motel and surrounding RV’s.

The manufactured home involved in the fire had no occupants. But it had been converted into a workshop containing large quantities of pressurized flammable gas tanks and other hazardous chemicals.

The initial fire engine response team immediately began defensive operations to protect the motel and nearby RV’s.

Due to the immense heat, the fire did spread to a nearby shed and RV.

The fire was contained and prevented from spreading to any further structures.

Due to the amount and type of stored items this fire burned well into the night, fire containment was achieved by 9:30pm with overhaul operations continuing until midnight. At this time the cause of fire is under investigation.

After clearing the structure fire at Stateline Trailer Park the crews responded to nine calls throughout the night and early morning.
