The boat ramp at Overton Beach is currently closed while under construction. Work on the ramp began early in December and is expected to continue through February.
The ramp had previously received a reinforced concrete surface down to the elevaton of 1142 feet. Lake levels are currently down to about 1111 feet. Thus, the of the ramp had revealed a surface of old, deteriorated asphalt.
“With water being so low, we knew that some work had to be done to improve the far end of the ramp,” said Roxanne Dey, a National Park Service (NPS) spokesperson. “This was a good opportunity to do it.”
The NPS has contracted with E.H. LLC out of Beaver, Wyoming to complete the project. It is budgeted to cost $736,744 and is being funded by the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act (SMPLMA).
