Grand Opening Event Held At Apex Love’s

A grand opening event was held on Saturday for the restaurant area of the new Love’s Truck Stop at Apex near the intersection of Interstate 15 and State Route 93. The new Love’s location sports two restaurant franchises including Subway and Godfathers Pizza. The restaurant area, the convenience store and the gas and diesel fill up kiosks did brisk business on Saturday for the event.

The Love’s location began construction on August 16, 2009. It was completed and opened for business on March 16, 2010. It is one of 230 locations nationally owned by the Love’s company based in Oklahoma City, OK.

The new Love’s truckstop at the intersection of I-15 and State Highway 93 had a grand opening event for its Subway restaurant on Saturday.
Other Love’s locations in the region include centers in Cedar City, UT; Kingman, AZ; Lake Havasu City, AZ; and Barstow, CA.

The Apex center has enjoyed very strong opening weeks, according to store officials. “Our sales have really started off with a bang,” said Love’s Regional Manager Duncan Stoops. “Better than we expected actually. In talking to the owners of the company, they thought that if it isn’t the busiest opening they’ve seen in inside sales, it’s pretty close.”

The 7,000 sq. ft Love’s convenience store carries a lit bit of everything including consumer electronics, clothing, souvenirs, groceries, travel supplies and, of course, snack foods and beverages. “We call it the Walmart of the highway,” said Stoops.

A large section at the back of the store caters to truck drivers. The center is located on nearly 12 acres with ample paved parking for the big rigs. The center offers shower facilities and truck weigh-in services to the truckers. And it soon will offer a full tire shop for trucks.

The center employs nearly 30 people. At least six of those employees were hired from the Moapa Valley area. The store’s General Manager, Rob Foulke, resides in the Warm Springs area.

“We look forward to serving the community,” said Foulke. At its ribbon cutting ceremony in March, Love’s contributed $2000 to the Children’s Heart Foundation of Las Vegas.

“The company does a lot to give back to the communities it serves,” Foulke said. “We will be on the lookout for programs like that where we can make a difference.”
