The City of Mesquite Department of Athletics and Leisure Services-Senior Division is adding a little bit of fun for the whole family – 1950s style – to Friday, May 3. They will be having a Sock Hop in celebration of Mesquite Days from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
At the Sock Hop, there will be dancing to the hits of the 50-60s and performances by the Mesquite Toes, On the Beat Dance and All That Jazz. There will be a designated area (small fee applied) where children 3-11 will be able to play and have fun.
The second event is the Mesquite Days Zumbathon® to be held on Saturday, May 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Join the Zumbathon to build stronger communities as a team of local Zumba Instructors lead participants in 2.5 hours of Latin rhythms to keep everyone sweating and having fun.
Special performances by the On the Beat Dance Studio, The Gorman Twins and Shandi Stiner will be showing off their talents. No experience is necessary to participate in the Zumbathon. This is a family-friendly event open to the public and welcomes all members of the community.
Both events are admission free. Both dances will be held at the Mesquite Recreation Center Gymnasium, 100 W. Old Mill Road. Hotdogs, cheeseburgers, root beer floats, french fries, banana splits, sodas and more will be available for purchase.
