The Moapa Valley Performing Arts Council (MVPAC) will open its 2016-17 season with the annual Moapa Valley Talent Showcase on Monday, September 12. The concert will be held in the Ron Dalley Theatre at Moapa Valley High School at 7:00 p.m. This community talent show has been highlighting local talent for more than 20 years.
Logandale resident Bryce Hardy will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event with a variety of talented performers on the program. Local favorites such as Brent and Kyle Taylor, Ora Mae May, and the Zephyr Men’s Singers will perform. Several local youth will be performing, including Darren Hardy and Anna Stratton as piano soloists, Zach Anderson and Eden Whitmore performing Gershwin’s “I Got Rhythm” Variations, vocalists Madison Bush and Mackenzie Caldwell, Faith Kelly and her mother Becky Kelly, and Olivia Leavitt will perform a ballet solo.
The audience will enjoy the original sound of indie pop band “Going Nowhere Fast”, made up of Madison Mortensen, Kelly Prisbrey, and Sage Jarrel.
The MVHS Jazz Band and Pirate Motion Dance Team, featuring the Goldenettes will also perform.
The program will be rounded out with vocalist Erin Cornwall performing “Burn” from the Broadway “Hamilton”, and Flutist Jane Solomon performing “Histoire du Tango; Bordel-1900”.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and students, and $30 for a family pass. Season tickets are available at the door. All proceeds from the program will go to the Arts Council fund towards future performances.
