County To Hold Seminar For MV Residents

Moapa Valley Progress

Clark County will be hosting a special seminar this week aimed specifically at Moapa Valley residents who have plans to do some building or renovations to their homes or property.

The seminar will gather representatives from Public Works, Building Department and Comprehensive Planning to the Overton Community Center. There they will answer questions and explain the process of obtaining appropriate permits and documents to complete projects in a timely manner.
Each department will give a five minute presentation which will then be followed by 10 minutes of open questions and answers from the public directed at that department.

“We did this seminar once already and it turned out great,” said County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick in a recent interview. “Since then, we’ve had a lot of public response to do it again, so we are.”
Kirkpatrick will also be in attendance at the meeting.

Kirkpatrick has been successful in bringing County Building and Zoning plan-checkers, as well as other permit officials, to Overton once a month. They are scheduled to come to the Community Center on the fourth Wednesday of every month to help people get the correct permits and other documents without multiple trips to Las Vegas.
Kirkpatrick said that this is just one step in the right direction to bring more services to the rural areas of her district.

This week’s seminar will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 7:00 pm. All in the community are invited to show up and participate.
