Moapa Valley Progress
A Moapa Valley business is making plans for staging a new community event this spring. Coordinators of the event are calling on artists, both near and far, to participate by preparing entering their artwork.
Graphx Signs & Services in downtown Overton will be hosting its first Moapa Valley Sculpture Show. The show is planned for May 18-20 at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Graphx is currently seeking 3-D artists who are interested in preparing work to display and sell in the show.
“There are many creative people in this valley who can be included in this opportunity,” said Graphx owner Julie Brill. “Any 3-D medium may be used to make lifelike or abstract sculptures, or anything in between.”
Just about any variety of 3D media are welcome to be entered in the show. This includes tapestries/fiber art and cast reliefs which must have a minimum of ½ inch depth. Garden sculptures are also being sought including fountains and benches. In addition a wide variety of functional art is welcome including room dividers, bookends, kitchen items, computer monitor stands with drawers, bird feeders, stools, and so on. Kinetic sculptures could include wind, water, or battery-powered media will also have a place for display. Any variety of shelf art and other 3D media including glass, wood, bronze cast, formed metal an more are appropriate, as long as they unique/original art and of quality construction. Since the Sculpture Show is planned as a family-friendly event, no nudes may be entered.
