Moapa Valley Justice Court Report (April 5, 2017)

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 with Judge Lanny Waite presiding.

David Lewis – Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Community service requirement completed. Counseling still in progress. Continued to 5/10/2017 for status check.

Todd Kelson- Charges: DUI. Not guilty plea entered on behalf of defendant. Set for trial 5/10/2017.

Buster Winkler- Charges: Doing Business Without License. Plead guilty to charge. Received 60 days jail sentence to stay out of trouble for one year and pay $4,400 in restitution as well as $443 investigation fee to Contractor’s Board.

Patrick Dunning- Charges: Domestic Battery. Community service and counseling in progress. Continued to 6/7/17 for status check.

Gregory Galazin- Charges: Battery w/ use of Deadly Weapon, 2 counts of Assault with use of deadly weapon, 2 counts of Discharge of Firearm from within structure or vehicle. Defendant waived preliminary hearing. Guilty plea entered and the matter was bound over to District Court.

Rick Jimenez- Charges: Attempted Kidnapping, Grand Larceny of Auto, Larceny from Person. Matter set for public hearing on 5/10/2017.

Rachel Parent- Status check on Charges: Grand Larceny of Auto, Contempt of Court. Defendant appeared in custody. Previously had been sentenced on Larceny charged with 12 months in jail held in abeyance to stay out of trouble, complete community service, pay restitution, receive drug counseling. Also was ordered to have no contact with a former friend, Dillon Jones.
Defendant had not stayed out of trouble and a complaint had been filed against her. This brought a warrant for her arrest on a Contempt of Court charge. She was arrested on 2/23/17 in company of Jones.
Defendant had been in custody since that time. Judge released defendant on her own recognizance and gave credit for 22 days served. Admonished her to follow the terms of probation and get help. If not, she would continue to be taken in custody. Matter set for status check on 5/10/2017.

Carl Richard Tomlinson- Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. Defendant appeared in custody. Pled to amended charge of possession of dangerous drug. Received jail sentence of 180 days, suspended for 1 year to stay out of trouble. Required to do random drug testing, receive drug evaluations with a licensed counselor and receive counseling deemed necessary. Released from custody and given credit for time served. Set for Status Check on 5/10/2017.

Michael Snoreen- Charges: Possession of Pornography of person under age 16. Prepare, advertise or distribute material depicting pornography involving minor. Public Defender stated that it appeared there would likely be more charges forthcoming in the matter. He asked that the matter be put on a preliminary hearing calendar. Set for preliminary hearing on 4/12/17.

Coreen Rivas- Charges: Contributory Neglect. Defendant appeared in custody. Had failed to appear on court date in Dec. 2016 and warrant had been issued. She was arrested on 2/21/17.
Judge gave two Defendant choices: impose the 12 month jail sentence or she voluntarily opt to leave the jurisdiction for three years. Defendant chose to voluntarily leave the jurisdiction to avoid imposing 12 month sentence. Given until 3/29/17 to leave jurisdiction. Released from custody.

Jesus Ramos, Jr.- Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant appeared in custody. Questions were raised regarding competency to stand trial. Judge ordered a competency evaluation. Defendant to remain in custody. Set for status check on 4/12/2017.

Dennis Horn – Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. Defendant was in custody but not present. Public Defender explained that Defendant was now facing the charge in district court and would likely be sentenced to time in state prison.
Public Defender entered guilty plea on Defendant’s behalf on amended misdemeanor charge. Given credit for time served on 6 month sentence and concurrent time to his current sentencing.

Ronald Williams- Charges: Possess, Receive, or Transfer Stolen Vehicle. Attorney not present in court and confirmation of counsel not yet received by the court. Defendant had not yet been able to pay attorney’s retainer. Matter continued to 4/12/2017.

Danny Nusbaum- Charges: DUI 2nd. Public Defender appointed to represent. Set for status check on 4/12/2017.

Casey Steward- Charges: Indecent Exposure. Probable cause not found and state not proceeding with the case. Case dismissed.

Michael Gehman- Status Check on Charges: DUI amended to Reckless Driving. Final status check. All requirements met. Case closed.

Kristen Cloud- Status check on Charges: DUI. Is still enrolled in drug treatment program at the Mesquite Court. Expected graduation date from the program is 4/18/17. Set for final status check on 5/10/17.

Dustin Hardin- Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. All terms completed. Case dismissed.

Samual Lee Perkins- Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Community Service requirement completed. Counseling in progress. Continued to 6/7/2017 for Status Check.

Nicholas Stevens- Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Required counseling in process. Continued to 6/7/2017 for Status Check.

Serafin Garcia- Status check on Charges: DUI. All terms completed. Final status check set for 9/27/2017 to stay out of trouble.
