Moapa Valley Justice Court Report (May 3, 2017)

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 with Judge Lanny Waite presiding.

Jaime Jimenez-Magana – Charges: Domestic Battery. Defense attorney asked for a continuance. Deputy DA said that there was some question about immigration status of Defendant. He may have been deported and returned back into the country. Awaiting information on status before proceeding with case.
Defendant had been in custody but had been released on his own recognizance. Judge said that he was concerned about the Defendant’s living situation and whether he was still in contact with alleged victim. He stated that a condition of the release was to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Set Status Check for 5/10/2017 for update on immigration and living status. Trial set for 6/7/2017.

Billy Howard – Charges: Driving without valid license. Defendant had been taken into custody earlier in the morning at Traffic Court when it was discovered he had warrants on two other citations for driving without valid license.
Had been arrested previously on the warrants and had served more than 30 days in jail. Was given credit for time served and released.

Michael Tognani – Charges: Driving with suspended license; Open Container. Defendant appeared in custody after being arrested on a warrant. Had pled guilty to charges in 2016, given sentencing and conditions, but had not completed them and failed to appear for court dates. Each count had a 60 day jail sentence attached. Full jail time was imposed for a total of 120 days.

Michael Snoreen – Charges: Possession of Pornography of person under age 16. Prepare, advertise or distribute material depicting pornography involving minor. Defendant appeared in custody. Public Defender stated that a resolution in the case is very close. However, there are still a few details to review which should be resolved by the next court date. Status Check set for 5/10/2017. Defendant to remain in custody.

Doyle Britt Hedger – Charges: Felony Attempted Home Invasion. Defendant appeared in custody. Plead to amended charges of misdemeanor Trespass and Disorderly Conduct. Given 30 days suspended jail sentence to stay out of trouble for 6 months. Also $250 fine, ordered to pay restitution to repair damage to the door of the house of the alleged victim. Ordered release from custody. Case continued to 7/5/2017 for status check.

Ronald Williams – Charges: Possession of Stolen Vehicle. Defendant had not been able to pay retainer to secure council. Public Defender was appointed to represent. Matter set for preliminary hearing on 5/10/2017.

Dominique Jimenez-Magana – Charges: Leaving Child Unattended in Motor Vehicle. Defendant not present in court. Warrant issued.

Austin Brigg – Charges: Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor. State not proceeding on charges. Case dismissed.

Danny Nusbaum – Charges: DUI 2nd. Not present in court. No contact made with Public Defender. Warrant issued.

Jarom Chalfant – Charges: Petit Larceny. State will not be seeking jail time on charge. Deputy DA made offer. But Defendant entered a Not Guilty plea. Matter set for trial 5/10/2017.

Jesus Ramos, Jr. – Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant plead to charge. Given 30 days suspended sentence to stay out of trouble. Also $345 in fees/assessments, Battery Domestic Violence classes. Since he had spent over 30 days in jail on the charge, he was given credit for time served applied to the statutory requirement for community service. Case continued to 6/7/2017 for status check.

Marissa Whited – Charges: Domestic Battery, Victim Is Older Person. Public Defender appointed to represent. Set for 6/7/2017.

Deanna Duncan – Charges: Domestic Battery. Public Defender appointed to represent. Set for trial on 6/7/2017.

Russell Draper – Charges: 2 counts of Animals Running At Large; Violation of Title 10 Animals Code; Deprive Animal of Sustenance. Pled to one count of Animals Running at Large. Remaining charges dismissed. Received $200 fines.

Whitley White – Charges: Petit Larceny. Defendant pled no contest to the charge. Given 30 day suspended jail sentence to stay out of trouble for one year; $350 in fines and assessments; $15 in restitution. Continued to 6/7/2017 for status check.

Jeremy Comparoni – Status Check on Charges: Assault with use of Deadly Weapon. Defendant had made no progress on requirements because of medical reasons. Matter set for Status Check on 5/1/2017.

Coreen Rivas – Status check on Charges: Contributory Neglect. Last month, Defendant had agreed to voluntarily leave the jurisdiction for a period of three years to avoid imposing of jail time in charges. Had since relocated to Beaver Dam, AZ. Her entire family is currently preparing to leave the community and move to Beaver Dam as well. Defendant’s parents need help with packing and preparing for the relocation. Defendant requested to be given 60 days to have limited access to the community to help in the move.
Judge agreed to allow a 60 day period to return to the community only during daylight hours; must leave before sundown each day. Only allowed to drive through the community to get to parent’s home.
Matter set for Status Check on 6/14/2017.

Steven Pecsi – Status Check on Charges: DUI. All conditions met in the case. Continued to 6/7/2017 for Final Status Check.

Amber Solano – Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant not present in Court. Warrant issued.

Shauna Turley – Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery; Disorderly Conduct. All conditions had been met. Case closed.
