Moapa Valley Justice Court Report (June 7, 2017)

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 with Judge Lanny Waite presiding.

Jaime Jimenez-Magana – Charges: Domestic Battery. Deputy DA said that there was still some question about immigration status of Defendant. Matter was set for trial 6/7/2017. Judge reiterated that no contact with alleged victim was a condition to remaining out of custody.

Pavel Shlyahovsky – Charges: Failure to Decrease Speed or Use Due Care; Failure to Properly Maintain Travel Lane; False Statement To or Obstruct Police Officer; Driving with Revoked Driver’s License. Defendant not present but Attorney was authorized to negotiate a plea agreement. Defendant plead to Failure to Use Due Care and Providng False Information To Police Officer. The remaining two counts were dismissed. Received a total of $1000 in fines and fees. Continued to 7/5/2017.

Brandon Collmar – Status check on charges: DUI. Defendant had spent more than 30 days in jail and had spent four months in an in-patient facility. Since that time had been completing outpatient addiction treatment and has done well in the program. Continued to 7/5/2017 for final status check.

Todd Kelson – Charges: DUI. Pled to Reckless Driving with the understanding that sentencing would match that of DUI. Defendant wants to serve in the military and a DUI on record would disrupt those plans. Judge said that the Plea would be conditioned on completion of sentence including a total of 14 days served in jail (1 day credit for time served); $1160 in fees and assessments; attend a Stop DUI Victim Impact Panel; Complete DUI school. If not completed, the plea will not be accepted and will revert to original charge. Continued to 7/5/2017 for status check.

Kim Renee aka Kari Jacobsen – Charges: DUI. Not guilty plea entered in behalf of Defendant. Set for trial on 7/5/2017.

James McMillan & Mike Reese, codefendants – Charges: Unlawful Hunt and Game. Both submitted to charge on the record. Given $250 fine each.

Jeremy Comparoni – Status Check on Charges: Assault with use of Deadly Weapon. Defendant had made no progress on requirements because of financial reasons. Defendant promised to pay a portion of the fines at that time. Judge warned that he must have significant compliance on the conditions by the next court date. Matter set for Status Check on 6/7/2017.

Julie Nussbaum – Status check on charges: Battery with use of Deadly Weapon; DUI. Defendant had been charged with new count of Unlawful Use Of Emergency System. She had made a practice of calling 911 when there was no emergency present. The judge reported that she had been charged on about the 29th time that this had occurred. The charge would be held for the period of one year. If there are no other instances going forward of the problem, then it would be dismissed. Judge warned the defendant if there was another instance, it would become much more complicated for her.
Other cases must have completion of terms and conditions. Continued to 7/5/2017 for status check.

Eduardo Garcia – Charge: Driving Without License. Defendant appeared in custody. The charge had originally come before the court on 6/24/2015. But Defendant had failed to appear. A bench warrant was issued on 7/15/2015. Defendant was later arrested on the warrant and pled to the charge. The matter was continued to 9/16/2015 when the Defendant again did not appear and a warrant was issued. He had since been arrested again and had been in custody since 5/9/2017. Judge found Defendant in Contempt of Court and sentenced to eleven days in jail. Case closed.

Dennis Lovelady – Charge: Battery/Domestic Violence. Defendant appeared in custody. Public defender appointed to represent. Defendant released from custody on condition that he have no contact with alleged victim. Matter set for trial on 7/5/2017.

Jesse Ramos – Charges: 2 counts of Battery/ Domestic Violence. Defendant appeared in custody. Public defender appointed to represent. Judge released defendant from custody with order to have no contact with alleged victims in the incident. Trial set for 7/5/2017.

Kory Paul – Charge: Domestic Battery 2nd. Defendant appeared in custody. Had been in jail since 5/2/2017. Pled no contest to amended charge of misdemeanor Battery. Sentenced to $350 fine and 90 day sentence suspended to stay out of trouble for one year. Continued to 7/5/2017.

Michael Snoreen – Charges: Possession of Pornography of person under age 16. Prepare, advertise or distribute material depicting pornography involving minor. Defendant appeared in custody. Defendant waived right to a Preliminary Hearing in Justice Court. Matter was bound over to the 8th District Court Dept. 22. In District Court, Defendent will plead to count 1 and have sentence imposed. State has agreed to no additional charges in relations to the machines seized at the Defendant’s home. Also an agreement not to refer the case to federal authorities for imposing federal charges.

Destiny Anderson – Charges: Petit Larceny. Defendant appeared in custody. In 2014, Defendant had pled to charge of Petit Larceny but had not fulfilled terms and conditions imposed and had not appeared in court. A warrant had been issued. Had received charges of Possession of Controlled Substance in Las Vegas on 4/4/2017 and was taken into custody. Judge converted terms and conditions to time served in jail and closed the case.

Dennis Horn – Status check on multiple charges including Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Controlled Substances etc. Defendant not present because he was in state prison on charges arising in Las Vegas. It had been assumed that Defendant had been in custody since last Fall. But a new criminal complaint had come up from Feb. 2017 of Burglary and Petit Larceny. Defendant had apparently been released on own recognizance at that time. The matter was set for Status Check on 6/7/2017 for the Public Defender to investigate and find out what had happened.

Penny Stoven – Charges: Failure to Restrain Excess Animals, Cruilty to Animals, Sanitation violation, Failure to Vaccinate for Rabies. Defendant said that she had cleaned up her place and was in the process of solving the problem. Judge continued the matter to 11/22/2017. If no further problems the case will be dismissed.

T. Lee Perkins – Status check on Charges: DUI. Defendant had entered Salvation Army program but had to leave the program for medical and financial reasons. Was currently receiving treatment on outpatient basis. Matter was continued to 9/27. Defendant required to provide record of weekly AA meeting attendance to the court. Also subject to random testing for alcohol content.

Joshua Hammons – Charges: Battery/Domestic Violence. Not guilty plea entered on Defendant’s behalf. Matter continued to 6/7/2017 for status check. Defendant must retain an attorney by that time. Ordered to have no contact with alleged victim in the case.

Taya Stevens – Charges: Possession of <1oz Marijuana; 2 counts of Driving w/o Valid License; 2 counts of Operating Unregistered Vehicle. State not proceeding on first charge. Second charge was dismissed. Defendant pled guilty on third charge given $200 fines and fees. Continued to 5/31/2017.

Richard Santana – Charges: Trespassing; Furnishing Alcohol to Minor. State not proceeding on the second charge. Pled guilty to the Trespassing charge and given 30 hours of community service. Matter continued to 6/7/2017.

Leroy Seckinger – Charges: Petit Larceny. State not proceeding on charge. Case dismissed.

Ronald Williams – Charges: Possession of Stolen Vehicle. Defendant pled to amended charge of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Property. Sentenced to $500 in fines and assessments, 90 days in jail held in abeyance for one year to stay out of trouble, impulse control counseling. Matter continued to 7/5/2017.

Rick Jimenez – Charges: Attempted Kidnapping, Grand Larceny of Auto, Larceny from Person. Public defender appointed. Continued to 8/2/2017.

Danny Nussbaum – Charges: DUI 2nd. Set for trial on 7/5/2017.

Jarom Chalfant – Charges: Petit Larceny. Defendant pled to Misdemeanor Theft. Sentenced to pay $100 in restitution, $250 fine and stay out of trouble for 1 year. Continued to 7/5/2017.

David Lewis – Status check on Charges: Battery/Domestic Violence. All requirements met. Case closed.

Bobbi Walsh-Jimenez – Status check on Charges: Failure to exercise Due Care To Pedestrian. Defendant had still not met all of the sentenced conditions. Continued to 6/7/2017 to resolve.

Carl Tomlinson – Status Check on Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance. Defendant had met none of the conditions imposed. Continued to 6/7/2017 to show proof of progress.

Russell Draper – Status Check on Charges: Animals Running at Large. Fines paid. Case Closed.

Sherrie Henry – Status Check on Charges: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All conditions met. Case Closed.

Holly Chow – Status Check on Charges: Battery/Domestic Violence. All conditions met. Case Closed.

Matthew Harvey – Status Check on Charges: Battery. All conditions met. Case Closed.

Joseph Gonzalez – Status Check on Charges: Child abuse Endangerment. All conditions met. Case Closed.

Kristen Cloud – Status Check on Charges: DUI. Defendant had graduated from Mesquite Court drug program and was considered a model subject. Case Closed.

Rachel Parent – Status check on Charges: Grand Larceny of Auto. Defendant not in attendance at court and had not stayed out of trouble. Had picked up an additional charge of Resisting Public Officer. Warrant issued.

Joshua Lewis – Status Check on Charges: Disorderly Conduct (amended). All conditions met. Case Closed.
