Fitness Event Fundraiser Helps Local Family

Moapa Valley Progress

Justin Hardy and his wife Missy were deeply grateful for all of the community support shown at Friday’s fundraiser.

The “Hardy Strong” Fitness-a-thon Fundraiser took place on Friday March 23 in the Old Overton Gym. Hosted by DDA Fitness, and under the direction of Ashley Bowler and Lauren Nelson, the event was fantastic success.

A spirited auction was surrounded by the pulsing music of the fitness goers, and the happy chatter of attendees who wanted to support the Justin Hardy family.

Hardy was recently diagnosed with advanced Multiple Sclerosis. With Justin and his family facing a long road of expensive treatment, friends and family in the community decided to band together and raise money to help.

The evening featured a sale where home-baked goods were quickly snatched up. In addition, bids for donated auction items steadily climbed until the last minute for closing. Laughter could be heard clearly between breaks in the music and sweat was continuously wiped.

“I am so proud of this community, said event co-organizer Ashley Bowler. “I am so touched by the willingness and generosity everyone showed. So many kind people jumped in and donated with out hesitation. I am so honored to be a part of the whole day and privileged to work with amazing women.”

The event creators would like to thank all those who help and donated, not only items to the auction, but their time and efforts.

“We have no words to express our gratitude to the people in this awesome valley,” said Justin’s wife Missy Hardy. “Our hearts are overflowing with love and appreciation to all of those who have opened your hearts to help our family during this trial and time of change.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, visits, calls, donations. And most of all thank you for the love we have felt since this all began! We are still learning the ropes of how MS works and what to expect. They say it takes a village to raise a family and survive and we are so very grateful for our Moapa Valley village!”

Community members who wish to donate to help the Hardy family may do so at America First Credit Union under the Justin Hardy Charitable Account #9100181.
