What Makes MVHS so Special?

By GRACIE LEAVITT

Moapa Valley Progress

It has only been a few months since the beginning of the school year, but newcomers can already agree that Moapa Valley High School is special.

On August 13th, many eager students entered this school for the first time and could immediately recognize the vibrant school spirit and welcoming vibes. These feelings were not only felt in the classroom, but also at sporting events, assemblies and within the community.

“I really like the people,” said junior Maurice Torbeck. Torbeck is among one of 24 foreign exchange students attending MVHS this year. “I think everyone is into the school life and everyone is doing something around the school.”

Freshman Jace Meeks added, “[MVHS] is like a small town, and everyone knows each other.”

Another freshman, Ariana Knighton, commented that the variety of student backgrounds contributes to a diverse, positive student body.

“No matter where you come from,” said Elin Rohdin, who is visiting MVHS from Sweden, “everyone knows everyone here.”

“I think it’s just the school pride,” Student Body President Gannon Hanevold added. “It’s a combination of adults and students.”

Hanevold went on to say that as a community, we are all inspired to live up to the school, its history, and all of its success.

Students, teachers and alumni, no matter how long they have been a part of MVHS, can reach the consensus that this school community is built on the support of everyone.

And that is exactly what makes MVHS so special.
