OBITUARY: Zane Lamping

Zane Lamping

Zane Lamping

Zane Joseph Lamping, aged 19, died suddenly on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the South Africa Missionary Training Center in Johannesburg. He was beginning his two year service as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Zane was born August 19,1999 in Overton, Nevada to John Joseph and Jill Tonya Korpi Lamping.

Words cannot adequately describe the lasting impact Zane’s example has left on his family. He was an incredibly motivated and accomplished individual during his short time on earth. He graduated from Nevada State High School, allowing him to complete college credits while participating in various extracurricular activities with friends at Moapa Valley High School. He was a state qualifier in Cross Country, Forensics, and two time state qualifier in Swimming. After years of work, he earned his Eagle Scout award. Zane loved spicy food, sushi, exploring nature, going shooting, attending movies, jamming out to 80’s music, reading a hefty book, and driving a date around in his Bronco.

Zane was always seeking to excel by pushing boundaries to reach his potential and not settling for the status quo. He was outgoing, adventurous, and always wanted to explore life’s possibilities, especially serving a mission. He had been overjoyed at his call to serve a mission and loved the people of South Africa before he even got on the plane. The light of his countenance reflected a sincere and loving heart that has positively impacted many. He was a caring ray of sunshine who could create humor in every situation, so much so that no one could stay sad around him for long. He gave his best to live a life of integrity that his Savior would be proud of.

Zane is survived by his parents, John & Jill; his four siblings: Porter, Sadie, Myrrhanda and Truett, all of Moapa Valley; his grandmother, Karen Korpi of Sandy, UT and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives who will greatly miss him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Irene Sylvester and William James Lamping and John Robert Korpi.

Funeral services are still pending. Interment will be in the Warm Springs Cemetery.

Friends and family have found it easy to have a “Zane Story,” and the family would greatly appreciate anyone who wishes to share memories and photos of him on his Facebook page. An invitation is also extended to anyone wising to sign an online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
