Moapa Valley Progress
Moapa Valley was well represented in Washington DC. last month. But we are not talking about Congress. Moapa Valley High School senior Mitchell Smith, the school’s Jobs for America’s Graduaties (JAG) President took a trip to the nation’s capital. Mitchell received an invitation to a JAG Leadership Academy event after writing an essay on how the program has helped him better his life.
The organization provided Mitchell with an all-expense paid trip to the Washington DC conference. During his time in DC, he attended several leadership meetings and was able to tour the capital city.
“I love to see students go to the Leadership Academy,” JAG teacher Mrs. Archibald said, “not only for their experience and the leadership skills they learn, but also to experience Washington and appreciate our national government. We are super proud of Mitchell being selected and he is an amazing representative of Moapa Valley High School.”
Mitchell said he learned a lot from the leadership activities offered at the conference and he is excited to bring those skills back to MVHS and share them with his classmates.
Mitchell also made many new friends while at the conference.
“JAG has helped me with networking and has taught me how to be more of a people person and excel in life,” Mitchell explained.
Mitchell is the son of Mitchell and Christina Smith, and Katherine Johnson.
