After years of success in Overton “The Front Porch” business owner Charlene Udall, of Moapa, expanded her business and opened a shop in Mesquite. The grand opening celebration for the new location took place Friday, Feb. 1.

Friends, family, devoted customers and curious passersby joined in the fun of a ribbon cutting ceremony and refreshments at the event which was located at the new store: 61 N. Sandhill Blvd. Suite 3.

Mesquite Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Carol Poulson welcomed attendees and introduced the staff of The Front Porch.
“Welcome to the grand opening of The Front Porch,” Poulson said. “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. I barely got any sleep last night.”

Poulson expressed how impressed she is with the business’s customer service.
“When you walk in the front door of their store you get a hug and you walk out feeling like a million bucks,” she said.

Udall followed Poulson’s remarks expressing gratitude through tears.
“I have to thank Heavenly Father for blessing me with so many talented people as friends,” she said. “Opening this store in Mesquite was seriously like a dream. All these people back here, my family, you guys made it happen. Thank you so much.”

Udall told about spending the weekend with friends and discussing her desire to expand The Front Porch to Mesquite. One encouraging friend told her emphatically that they should do it and it was only a matter of months before the dream became a reality. She expressed appreciation for friends who believe in her.
“…And I want the City of Mesquite to believe in us too,” she said. “We will rope the moon for you so thanks for having us!”

The Front Porch supplies a wide variety of floral arrangements, home décor and gift items. The business also provides wedding reception rentals including a refreshment bar, donut wall, s’mores bar, family picture wall, cake table, white column backdrop yard games and more.

Udall said that The Front Porch staff will also decorate reception areas.
“You can come sit and have a consultation with us and hire The Front Porch flowers and the only thing you have to do is show up [to the reception],” she said. “We decorate, we clean up and leave and the only thing you do is show up so you can enjoy your day.”

The Front Porch takes pride in long lasting floral arrangements due to customers education on how to care for them. Udall said that customers on a budget are invited to bring in their own vase to cut on the cost of arrangements.

“Also, just tell us that you only have $35 but you would like a really nice arrangement,” she said. “We can choose flowers that are less expensive and maybe pop two roses in it so we can meet your budget but at the same time you have a really nice gift of flowers.”

Udall said that she intends to bring in new lines of home décor and gifts frequently to see which items are the most popular.
“Until we really understand what Mesquite wants we’re going to have to try out a few different lines of products,” Udall said.
