Art Guild Seeking Bunnell Artworks For Tribute Exhibit

The Moapa Valley Art Guild (MVAG) is calling out to collectors of local artwork for help. The call is specifically directed toward those in the community who own paintings by well-known Moapa Valley artist Max Bunnell.

For its upcoming sixtieth anniversary, the MVAG is paying a special tribute to Bunnell who is the guild’s founder. On the weekend of March 8-9, Bunnell’s work will be featured in an exhibit at the Old Logandale School.

“We know that there are a lot of people who have received, or purchased, artwork from Max over the years,” said exhibit coordinator Jana Ward. “If folks are willing to share them, we would love to include them in the exhibit.”

Ward said that any of Bunnell’s work that is out there in the homes of Moapa Valley would be welcome.
“Max has done so much work over the years and has touched so many people!” Ward said.

Ward specifically mentioned that, for many years, Bunnell made a practice of painting his own Christmas cards which he would give to people during the holiday season. “Each one was a unique work of art,” she said. “We would love to see some of those entered if people have them.”

The two-day exhibit will culminate in a special reception for Bunnell on Saturday, March 9 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
“We feel like it is a wonderful way to express appreciation to an person who has done so much for the arts here,” Ward said.

Those wishing to enter a Bunnell artwork from their collection into this special exhibit can contact Ward at 702-339-8359.
