The Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra will be performing in a concert entitled “The Magic Of Music” on Saturday, February 23 in the Casablanca Resort Showroom in Mesquite. The concert begins at 7:30 pm
The concert will feature pianist Christian Bohnenstengel playing Adinsell’s “Warsaw Piano Concerto” with the orchestra.
Bohnenstengel is the Director of Keyboard Studies at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. This versatile pianist feels equally at home in a wide range of musical genres. He was recently featured as soloist in Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” with the Orchestra of Southern Utah. He is also a founding member of the SUU Faculty Jazz Combo, Kind of Blue. His performances have taken him all over the U.S., to South America and to Europe.
In addition, Saturday’s concert will include SNSO conductor Selmer Spitzer leading such favorites as John Williams’ “Star Wars,” Walt Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean,” J.S. Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue,” Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and more.
The concert will be performed in memory of Jean Hardman, one of the local symphony’s violinists and the Ms. Senior Mesquite winner for 2016-17.
