New Feed Section At Overton Ace

Ace Hardware has added a whole new product line to its downtown Overton retail space. And it is likely to get local owners of livestock and pets excited.
Overton Ace has become a new IFA dealer, and now carries a full line of IFA animal feed products.

“We had people coming in asking us about carrying these products all the time,” said store owner/manager Mark Hopkins. “They would come in and ask us where was our feed section and we didn’t really have one. So we decided it was time to add it.”

Over the last couple of months, the store has been ramping up to offer this full line of IFA products. More than 2,000 square feet of store space has been devoted to a wide range of animal feed. That includes a new temperature-controlled storeroom for the larger bagged products which was built on to the back of the store.

The store staff has purposely been keeping things quiet for the first few weeks while they have sorted out all the details. But the word has gotten out into the community, Hopkins said.
“People have been very excited about it,” he said. “We have already done quite a lot of business and we haven’t really even started marketing it.”

The new product line includes a variety of options for livestock. The store carries alfalfa pellets which, Hopkins said, is a high demand product in the local communities. They also carry all kinds of grain feed for horses and other animals. In addition, the store carries chicken feed as well as hen scratch. And, of course, the new spring chicks; Rhode Island Reds; are in and available for purchase.

In addition to reasonably priced livestock feed, Ace Hardware offers quality pet food for dogs and cats. They even carry specialty products for more out-of-the-ordinary animals like pot-bellied pigs, emus and more.

“Our prices are pretty competive,” Hopkins said. “We did some comparison shopping to Las Vegas feed stores and we are carrying the same products, in some cases, for around half the price.”

And livestock feed isn’t the only IFA product that Ace Hardware has added. The local store can also supply IFA products for local gardeners. That includes various types of gardening mulch, fertilizers and other products. The store will even be carrying turkey mulch, a favorite among local gardeners.
“Anything that IFA can get, we can get here,” Hopkins said.

The store is planning to hold a Grand Opening event soon to celebrate becoming a full IFA dealer. Watch the PROGRESS for details about that upcoming event.
