The Desert Dames social club got together for its March Crossover Luncheon on Wednesday, March 24 in the Eureka Casino Grand Ballroom. A total of 57 ladies attended the event.

The annual “Crossover” event celebrates the installation of the new leadership of the club. The members of the 2021 board include Mary Webster as President, Julie Stolz as Vice President, Peggy Tuttle as Secretary, Bettie Rice as Treasurer. Other board members included Gretchen Gabbert, Joyce Dalton, Kaye Hermie, Betty Stoneking, Nikki Stoddard and Sherry Gosdis.

The Desert Dames is a non-profit social organization which promotes friendship thru monthly luncheons, social functions and special interest groups. Membership in the organization currently fluctuates between 250 and 300 members who reside in Mesquite and the surrounding areas.

Desert Dames activity groups include a book club, bowling team, bunco nights, hiking club, crochet/knitting, pinochle, slot tournaments and much more.

New President Mary Webster said that it has been good getting the club meeting again over the past two months, after a long absence last year during the pandemic.

“We were ‘shut down’ for months due to COVID,” Webster said. “We did meet in February with a very limited few in attendance. But that number increased significantly last week. And we look forward to that total increasing further monthly from here on out.”

Membership is open to residents 21 years or older in the city of Mesquite and the surrounding communities including Bunkerville, Moapa Valley and the Arizona strip communities.
