OBITUARY: Daniel Thomas Sweet

Daniel Sweet

Daniel Thomas Sweet, 75, passed away on April 10, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Chautauqua County, New York to Charles Walter Sweet and Lottie Helen Luszcak. Daniel’s family later moved to Venice, CA, where he attended Venice High School and worked making fiberglass at Fiberdine.

He graduated from high school in 1963, and married his high school sweet heart on July 16, 1966. Just a few months later, Daniel was drafted to the United States Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict as a Combat Engineer. In 1968, Daniel was honorably discharged from the military, and completed an apprenticeship as a plastics molding technician in 1973.

He worked many years making fiberglass for motorcycle ferrings and side cars for BMW. In 1984, Daniel moved his family to Overton, NV, where he worked at Echo Bay for a few years before becoming the head custodian for Moapa Valley High School. He worked another twenty-eight years before retiring in 2009.

Daniel loved the outdoors, and spending time at his cabins in Duck Creek and Otter Creek in Utah. He loved to go hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He and Martha loved traveling and seeing new places. When they were not traveling they enjoyed watching spook movies and hanging out with his kitty.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Martha Sweet; daughters: Catherine Marie (Rodney Allen) Probst, and Danielle Lynn Zappa; grandchildren: Nichole Probst, Kimberly Probst, and Mark (Mickelle) Uriarte; great-grandchildren: Kai, Karsynn, Kaycee, and Kashlynn; and niece and nephews: Chuck Sweet, Gino Sweet, and Susan Hunning. He is preceded in death by his borthers: Eugene, Herman, and Norman.

Viewing services will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary with a Celebration of Life following at 12:00 p.m. at the Logandale Park, Logandale, NV. Daniel always said he hoped no one would wear black for his service.
