In her OpEd column last week (Facts Death Penalty Opponents Don’t Want You To See: The Progress, 4/14/2021), Assemblywoman Annie Black failed to mention what would happen to all of those inmates on death row without the death penalty in place. They typically would receive a life without parole sentence in its place.
The only problem with that is the fact that it could be changed and the inmates over time could be granted parole.
There are a number of newspaper articles that report inmates previously sentenced to death, which was changed to life without parole. They got paroled and then committed murder again.
Something more to think about regarding changing the death penalty law.
