The Progress
The annual Mayor’s Pancake Breakfast was held on Saturday morning, May 22, at the Family Heritage Park in Mesquite.
Everyone was happy to be outside in beautiful weather for their breakfast. The event was not able to be held last year because of COVID-19 health restrictions.
The Mesquite Department of Athletics and Leisure Services provided the food. But it was a group of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Mesquite Stake organization who prepared and cooked up the meal.
The public was invited to the free breakfast. Those who missed it missed a delicious morning meal of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, sausage, and fluffy pancakes.
“This is a great way to serve the community,” said Mike Kazek who identified himself as an assistant cook. “We appreciate the city for being here and for supplying the food.”
The cooks presented Mayor Litman with his own special huge pancake, served in a large flat sheet-cake box.
“This is one of our ways to give back to the community,” Litman said of the breakfast. “It is so nice to get out again. I want to thank the LDS Church for cooking this great breakfast.”
The Virgin Valley Coalition clean-up crew enjoyed a hardy meal after all their hard work, along with other community leaders and many local residents.
