Senior Awards Ceremony Held At Beaver Dam HS

Five Beaver Dam High School graduating students were awarded $1000 scholarships from the Rotary Club of Mesquite. A Senior Awards Night ceremony was held on Friday afternoon for the Class of 2021 at Beaver Dam High School. More than $8,000 in private scholarships was awarded to members of the 17 member graduating class.

The Rotary Club of Mesquite awarded $1,000 scholarships to five deserving students who had applied for the scholarship. These students included Prisilla Mancha, Manuel Medrano, Elizabeth Jensen, Christopher Wilson and Raul Ornelas.

The presenter from the Rotary Club was Linda Gault, Leader of the Rotary Interact Club at Beaver Dam High School.
“Our Rotary Club is pleased to be able to give out these scholarships to these remarkable recipients,” Gault said.

Beaver Dam High School Principal Darlene McCauley handed out additional awards for the senior graduating class. The class valedictorian was recognized as Elizabeth Jensen. Prisilla Mancha was announced as the Salutatorian. Honor Roll Students included Manuel Medrano and Raul Ornelas.
McCauley also presented the Principal’s Award, which represents the “All Around Student of the Year.” This award went to Elizabeth Jensen who will receive a $500 scholarship.

Other scholarship awards were presented from various organizations. The Sunshiner’s Club awarded $250 scholarships to Elizabeth Jensen and Manuel Medrano.

Rumell & Dessie Reber awarded a $1000 scholarship to Raul Ornelas.

Yoga Bliss presented a $500.scholarship to Christopher Wilson.

Victory Bell gave a $500 scholarship to Marlene Aguirre.

Peggy Owen and Jody Roby gave a $500 scholarship to Elizabeth Jensen.

The 2021 BDHS graduates not mentioned above are Marlene Aguirre, Daniel Bravo, Chistial Cervantes, Dana Gomez, Alejandro Gonzalez, Jaden Iverson, Nancy Lopez, Angel Martinez, Ana Moreno, Monica Rodrigue, Daniela Sandoval, and Nathan Vicuna.

The BDHS graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday May 26 at the High School.

Eight of the graduating students have plans to go on to college or other technical/trade school.

Teachers each handed out their own class awards that included all the grades, and athletics.
