Rosetta ‘Rose’ Whitmore

Rosetta “Rose” Atwood Whitmore, age 81, died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Summerville, South Carolina.

She was born February 13, 1940 in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada. She married Guy Whitmore on March 11,1961 in Las Vegas, NV, and they were later sealed on June 11, 1966 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2011.

Rose grew up in Cranbrook. She met a handsome young missionary that was serving in Canada. After his mission, Guy courted Rose and she moved to his hometown in Overton, Nevada. They had a beautiful marriage and were blessed with four lovely daughters. They celebrated 50 years just before his death.

Rose was a talented musician. She played music by ear and could play just about anything. She was always willing to play for community, church and life celebrations and events. She was a friend to all and could brighten up a room. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, her kind smile and the twinkle in her eye.

Survivors include three daughters: Leslie (Stacey) Zimmerman of Meridian, ID, Eva Whitmore of Oakland, CA. and Adella (Travis) Outlaw of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Don (Glean) Atwood of Burnaby, B.C., Canada; two sisters, Dorthy (Hugh Wilton) Bohmer of Burns Lake, Canada and Pat (Klay) Henniger of Logan, UT. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cori.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Overton LDS Chapel, 226 W. Thomas Ave. Visitation will be for thirty minutes prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Overton, NV.
