The Progress
Kokopelli ATV Club, a non-profit organization, sponsored its first Memorial Day Ride last week, to honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to their country. The group hopes to make this ride an annual event.
The ride traversed a 50-mile trail through the Virgin Mountain Range. It ended at the Mesquite Veterans Center where the group received cold drinks and were able to cool down after the hot dusty ride. There were ten side-by-side vehicles participating in the holiday ride.
Kokopelli President Dominic Oliveto presented Mesquite Veterans Center Vice President Steve Reynolds with $575 dollars in cash, which were the registration fee proceeds from the ride.
“We are extremely honored and pleased to make this donation to the Veterans Center on Memorial Day,” Oliveto said.
Reynolds was grateful for the generosity of the club. “On behalf of the Mesquite Veterans Center, we are honored to receive this generous donation, and we thank you all,” he said. “I also want to assure you that 100 percent of all donations that we receive at our Center directly benefit those in the Mesquite Area.”
Kokopelli ATV Club, in cooperation with the Nevada Off-Highway-Vehicle Commission and other vital agencies in the region, perform many community services related to off-road trails. These include off-road maintenance clean up and preservation of trails in Clark and Lincoln counties. As a club, Kokopelli holds events such as Local Food Bank Collections and Community Clean-up days.
